Martin is a Massey University graduate who began working in small animal practice in Auckland for 6 years before moving back to his native Tauranga where he worked for 21 years. He has developed a special interest in exotic animal medicine and surgery in the past 11 years. In 2019 he passed the examinations to become a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the subject of Medicine and Surgery of Unusual Pets. He has recently started a new exotic pet referral service, in addition to working in an emergency and critical care practice in Tauranga. Martin has a particular interest in exotic companion mammals and his family are the carers of 5 guinea pigs.
